BATTLE AT POŽIRALNIK |
Summary:
The Dihur cottager's family finds it very hard to make ends meet on the barren soil, with the river constantly threatening to burst its banks and wah away the crop. In spite of all the hardship, the Dihurs want to become independent so they would no longer have to slay in the fields of others. Through inhuman effort the father tills the ground and drives the oxen so hard that one of them perishes. In dire straits, he sends his son to serve a rich farmer. One day, the son suddenly returns home. The father beats him black and blue and then they go back to the frarmer together. The latter humiliates them both, and though in financial straits, Dihur stands up for his son, tells the riche one what he deserves and takes his boy home. Later, his wife dies of strain, and while trying to stop the flood waters, he himself is buried beneath a landslide and dies.
