National Economics Competition 2025

This year, our school entered Slovenia’s national economics competition for the first time under the mentorship of our philosophy teacher Edin Saračević.

Seven students from third and fourth year classes achieved great results at the preliminary competition level and six of them (Katarina Adam, Jan Stergar, Žiga Kovačič, Katja Dobrišek, Maks Leon Rogelj and Aljaž Remec) qualified for the national level of the competition.

At the national level, the Gimnazija Vič delegation enjoyed great success as well. Jan Stergar and Aljaž Remec placed in the top ten, with Jan qualifying for the preliminary competition for the Slovenian national team for the International Economics Olympiad. Another three of our students, Katarina Adam, Katja Dobrišek and Žiga Kovačič, placed in the top twenty and achieved silver awards.

As our school does not offer economics classes within our regular timetable, our students mostly worked in their own time to prepare for the competition. We were very grateful to get the help of Borja Ranzinger, a member of the Slovenian national team for last year’s International Economics Olympiad.

With these great results in the very first year of Gimnazija Vič entering this economics competition, we hope to make it a tradition and send another delegation next year.
