National History Competition 2025

This year, our school enjoyed great success at the national competition for history organised by Društvo učiteljev zgodovine, the Slovenian History Teachers’ Association.

The topic of this year’s competition was the historical issue of Slovenia’s western border.

Our students showed great knowledge and understanding of the topic, which holds great importance for the Slovenian people. This is because, in the 20th century, about a third of the Slovenian population was forced to live under the repressive Italian fascist regime which aimed to erase their national identity.

The team representing Gimnazija Vič ended up in first place on the team leader board and our team members achieved two gold awards (Žiga Kovačič and Jan Stergar) and one silver award (Katarina Adam).
