Photographic Physics Competition 2026
Since the start of the school year, students with an interest in both physics and photography have worked on a creative project linked to a new competition within Gimnazija Vič.
Under the mentorship of Denis Pavlin, from our physics department, these students made pieces of work which combined impressive artwork and knowledge.
The idea was that students would find a scene that stood out in some way due to the scientific phenomena on display. As well as taking a photograph to showcase this concept, they had to write an explanation of what was going on in the image based on the world of physics.
Once the pieces were complete, they were entered into the competition to be judged by teachers from our school’s physics department. They were looking for high quality in terms of the artistic element, the originality of the work, and how comprehensive the explanation was.
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s competition:
3rd place: Maj Abbas Jokhadar
2nd place: Tadej Schrader
1st place: Lovro Mavko
Their photographs, along with all the others which made up the project, are now on display on the walls of the physics classrooms so that everyone can appreciate their hard work and creativity.
We would like to thank everyone who was involved with this competition. It’s great to see how the personal imagination can combine with scientific knowledge in these ways and we very much look forward to seeing the competition progress in the years ahead.
