Haiku event
On the evening of 7th September 2018, a group of well-known writers met with our students in Gimnazija Vič for an event to present their work and to discuss the writing process and philosophy of haiku and haibun.
We were happy to welcome Stephen Gill, Branko Manojlović, Dimitar Anakiev, and Samo Kreuz to our school to hear their work and their ideas about this world of poetry. They were invited by Edin Saračević who is a philosophy teacher at Gimnazija Vič and a prominent figure in Slovenian haiku.
As well as hearing from our guests, students had the chance to present their own work and to talk about how the writing process is developed through their work with teachers and mentors at our school.
The event concluded with a discussion where creative ideas were shared and our students were motivated to continue with their work in this area.
The guests showed their appreciation for the hard work of the teachers and students and displayed an enthusiasm for returning to our school for future events. With that in mind, we look forward to more cooperation in the time ahead.
