Erasmus+ exchange – Spain 2026

In the last week of February 2026, twelve students and two teachers flew to the Basque Country. The exchange was organised through the media literacy group of the Erasmus+ project at our school.

After a long day of flights and bus rides, we finally arrived in the town of Ordizia in the Basque region of Spain where our host school, Goierri Eskola, is located.

The next day began in the school, where we spent our morning playing icebreaker games with our new Spanish friends, going on a tour of the school, and snacking on some traditional local food.

From the beginning, we talked a lot about sustainability in different areas as this was the focus of our Erasmus+ project. Our plan was to put all our ideas together and create a magazine on the topic.

Over the next couple of days, we got to see a lot of the local sights. We had time to explore Ordizia, we had the chance to visit Pamplona and San Sebastian, as well as see some places with our hosts such as the markets and the nearby countryside.

Our last day started with us all taking the time to finish our magazine about sustainability. Then, we went to the town of Ataun where we got to learn about local architecture and have the experience of baking a traditional Spanish sweet snack.

The days went by so quickly and we had plenty of funny stories to share about our time together.

When the Spanish students came to Slovenia, we wanted to give them some good experiences linked to Ljubljana and other places in our country. We visited some of the most well-known locations such as Lake Bled and Piran on the Slovenian coast.

At school, our focus was on social media and politics. It was the perfect time for them to visit as the elections in Slovenia were approaching so we could see how different issues were covered in social media. It was valuable for us to learn more about how algorithms are used and how social media can be harmful across all age groups. Also, we heard about the problems that can happen when social media becomes your whole life.

Overall, we had a great time through the whole exchange, made plenty of new friends, and learned a lot about the different topics that we had to cover. We’d like to thank the teachers who organised this for us and who were part of the different parts of the project in Ordizia and Ljubljana.
